Arabic manuscript on polished paper, 307 leaves plus 3 flyleaves, 15 lines to the pages, written in naskh script in black ink, verses separated by small gold roundels, numerous words written in red and matched on the opposing page with the same words, surah headings written in white thuluth script against plain gold panels, leafy gold sprays amid the text, margins ruled in red, black and gold, catchwords, illuminated floral marginal devices throughout, opening illuminated double page frontispiece decorated with punched motifs on gold ground and polychrome flower cartouches enclosed within a zig-zag border, gold outer margins filled with foliate sprays, following page with illuminated floral margins, illuminated finispiece with floral decoration on gold ground, text in cloud bands, red morocco binding with gilt-punched trellis design and gold stamped borders
Condition
In good overall condition, ink bold and illumination bright, pages generally clean, a few smudges, one quire loose at end, small loss to edge of one leaf, some wear to binding and repair to spine, as viewed.
