Description
- wool pile
- Approximately 522 by 361cm; 17ft. 1in., 11ft. 10in.
Condition
Colours are crisper, lighter and more attractive in appearance overall, and not as dark as in the catalogue photograph.
Generally even 4mm dense pile overall. Minute areas of wear in bottom right quadrant, visible in the blue ground. There is a repaired dart across the border approximately 50cm long, and located 1/4 of the way down the right hand border, which is hardly noticeable. Some losses and vestiges of fringes at both ends. Minute splits along one end, stabilised by herringbone tape. There are approximately between 6-10, small horizontal breaks on the vertical axis a third in from each side, due to baling the carpet with pile side in, and these are recent breaks. Herringbone tape along all four sides. In good condition overall. The carpet would benefit from a professional clean.
Wonderful colour combination, balanced composition, with charming elements. Overall remarkable condition for its age. A good example of a classical type.
For transport the carpet should be rolled (not baled or folded), as the deep and dense pile strains against foundation when folded.
