Description
- jade and steel
the jade hilt of pistol-grip form, engraved with inscriptions inlaid with red pigment, the slightly-curved water-steel blade with gilt stylised vegetal decoration, velvet-covered scabbard with gilt chape
Condition
In general good condition, some rubbing to gold overlay decoration on blade, slight oxidization to tip of blade, some of the paint found inside the carved inscriptions on the hilt slightly faded, as viewed.

The inscriptions contain: The basmala, the shahada, the nada ‘ali quatrain, invocations to God and the four Orthodox Caliphs, Qur’an, chapters II (al-baqara), part of verse 255; XI, (Hud), part of verse 56; two Persian couplets invoking ‘Abd al-Qadir Gilani (?) and invocations to him through his attributes:
ya hazrat-e mahbub-e subhani ya ghawth al-a‘zam
‘O the Holiness of divine beloved! O the Most great Help!
