Catalogue Note

This carpet weight, with its green and yellow flecked glass decoration, can be compared with a number of green and greenish blue glass pieces excavated in 1965 in the Baluchipura ward of old Ahmednagar city, located in modern day Maharashtra. These were dated to the sixteenth century, and the subsequent use of the same type of decoration on the present carpet weight, dated to the eighteenth/nineteenth century, attests to the popularity of this ornamental style.
