Catalogue Note

The scale, paper and treatment of the fleshy gold flowers suggest that this small drawing may be a fragment of a border from and unidentified album published in Wright 2008, p.442, no.86 and Leach 1995, no.3.80. However, the border decoration of both the Minto and Wantage albums is also stylistically similar (see Wright, op.cit., no.37A, 38, 41, 52A and Stronge 2002, p.104, pl.70 for the latter).
