Condition

In overall good conserved condition. Gilding more golden and much more attractive than in the catalogue photograph. Gilding is worn as visible from the photograph, especially on the tops. Old minor chips. Old very minor repair to the rear right edge of both, which have been very well executed and are hardly noticeable.

An almost identical console d'applique from the Schwiter collection and now in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris, was exhibited "Louis XIV Faste et Décors", Musée des Art Décoratifs, Paris, May-October 1960, catalogue, pl. XXIX, no. 19, reproduced here in fig.1.
