Catalogue Note
'Among illustrations of applied art we have an interesting volume issued by Messrs. Liberty under the title of CYMRIC SILVER. Why these specimens of "l'art nouveau," as the French are now calling it, should be described as Cymric, does not precisely appear; but we are particularly glad to welcome the volume, because we have so often urged upon our silversmiths the necessity of making use of modern decorative talent and of importing new life to a trade which is, almost more than any other, hidebound by tradition and old conventions.' ('Review of Books,' The Times, London, 22 January 1901, p. 7)
