Description
- Mahogany and upholsteret
each with stop fluted front legs and outswept rear legs supporting serpentine seats (10)
Provenance
Acquired from Jeremy Ltd., London, 1989.
Condition
A good looking practical set, that will look super when re-upholstered. The upholsterey is currently tired and has numerous old stains and marks. The carved mahogany legs have numerous scuffs, old marks and scratches on the 18th century chairs and the later copies. One front stetcher is lacking on an early chair. There are some old splits and glued repairs to joins, they are solid however. Some chips to carved detail (as to be expected from use). One side stretcher rail with old worm damage, this has occurred sometime ago. At some point the older group of seven have undergone repairs and it may be that some stretchers and rear legs have been sympathetically replaced. The modern copies are a very good match.
Measurements: 98cm. high, 57cm. wide, height of seat 47cm., 61cm. deep; 3ft. 2½in., 1ft. 10½in., 1ft. 6½in., 2ft.
