Condition
This impressive table has been re-gilt, there are exposed areas of red undercoat and areas of exposed gesso where chips have occured to extremities. The frieze has splits to some lower scrolled components. On one short side this split is evident running horizontally through the gilt gesso. It is not possible to determine whether the hooves are later or are merely restored and covered by this later gilt finish. There are also some chips to the carved detail which are to be entirely expected.
