Catalogue Note

The present table stylistically closely relates to an Italian table with a pietre dure top and base of gilded bronze, attributed to Carlo Beccalli, monogrammed `N' , in the Palace of Fontainebleau, illustrated Electa Napoli, Civilta dell`Ottocento, Le arti a Napoli dai Borbone ai Savoia, 1997,  p.141. Historically used by Kings of France as one of their residences, after the revolution,  the Palace was used by the Emperor Napoleon and the table on which the present lot is based was supplied during his occupancy.
