Catalogue Note
For a very similar micromosaic of a mallard family, on a silver box, Thomas Newbold, Birmingham, 1824, see the collection of the late Diana Keggie, sale, Christie’s South Kensington, 30 November 2005, lot 138. The original design is attributed to Giacomo Raffaelli who is thought to have worked on the mosaic decoration at Ickworth, including a fireplace with a central panel inlaid with a similar family of ducks.
