Catalogue Note

For a Geneva snuff box of 1821-1826 with makers’ mark and signature of Bautte & Moynier, the firm that preceded J.F. Bautte & Cie., see Haydn Williams ed., Enamels of the World - The Khalili Collections, London, 2009, no. 222. The box is formed as a black taille d’épargne enamelled parcel fastened by gold ‘string’ which exactly resembles the applied gold trelliswork on the present box.
