Description

  • Ebonised fruitwood, brass, steel
  • 42cm. 16½in. high
5¾-inch dial with floral urn and scroll spandrels, matted centre with false pendulum and date apertures, the arch with subsidiary strike/silent and regulation dials flanking a silvered plaque signed William Allam, London, the five-pillar two train fusee movement with pivoted verge escapement, rise and fall regulation, trip repeat striking on a bell, similarly signed backplate engraved with foliate scrolls, the case with inverted bell top and brass carrying handle, the sides with pierced fret roundels and glazed panels, moulded base with later brass feet

Condition

Dial in good clean condition, some minor surface rusting to hands, regulation hand probably replaced. Movement complete and running at time of cataloguing but would benefit from a clean, it appears to retain the original wheel work throughout, some minor surface rusting to steel work. Case in generally good condition, side frets possibly replaced, some re-touching to ebonised finish, brass feet are later, minor old dents and marks throughout. With pendulum, winder and two case keys.
