The piece appears to be the only carving by this artist in wood of this particular rare subject. A related example of similar subject and format but carved in ivory formerly in the collections of W. L. Behrens and Andre Lichtenberger, was sold at Ader, Picard, Tajan, 19th February 1979, lot. 89.
