le rouleau s'ouvre avec un portrait de la dame Su Hui (357-385) tenant un rouleau à la main, suivent les palindromes racontant son histoire et quatre peintures l'illustrant, la première démontre l'habileté de Su Hui au filage de la soie, le deuxième raconte le départ de son mari la laissant seule, la troisième la vie agréable que mène Su Hui en son absence et la dernière le retour du mari en char à boeufs, signature apocryphe de Guan Daosheng (1262-1319), plusieurs cachets de collectionneurs dont celui apocryphe de Xiang Yuanbian (1525-1590), couverture en brocart de soie, boîte en bois (4)

Condition

The scroll is made up of four different illustrated scenes. The paintings are mounted on gold-flecked Japanese-style or Japanese paper. The palindromes: Overall light staining particularly to the right hand side. The first illustration: There is some light overall wear to the pigment and some light staining scattered across the painting, particularly along the left hand side of the painting. There are some vertical creases. The second illustration: There are some light areas of wear to the pigment scattered across the paining, a ca. 3cm long scratch and some small blacks spots near the upper right hand corner. The third illustration: There is light overall staining to the surface and some area where the pigments have worn away. There are some vertical creases, on of which almost broken throught the textile. There is a ca. 1.5cm long and 0.5cm wide area of loss to the textile toward the upper left hand side of the painting. The fourth and last illustration: There is light overall staining to the surface and some areas where the pigments have worn away. There are some vertical creases and a crease that has broken through the textile near the left hand rim of the painting, a ca. 1.5cm wide area of loss to the textile on the lower edge. There are some scattered scratches to the surface and some areas of loss along the right hand side of the painting. The collophone inscriptions at the end of the scroll are in overall good condition.
