Good overall condition with the exception of some light fritting to the edges of on petal and one leaf near the russet inclusion ; the actual color is a fraction more celadon than the catalogue illustration would suggest.

Catalogue Note

From the late Tang dynasty onwards, personal ornaments in the form of small plaques intricately carved in openwork designs gained in popularity. The designs were deeply carved and undercut so to appear almost three-dimensional. Small holes on the sides such as displayed on the present lot suggest that they may have been applied to textiles or leather belts. Compare, for instance, two examples in the Palace Museum, Beijing, illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum, vol. 41, Jadeware (II), Hong Kong, 2006, cat.nos. 172 and 173.
