Catalogue Note

Voir Vandenhoute (1948, p. 55, n°15) pour un masque très comparable conservé au Reichsmuseums für Völkerkunde de Leiden (inv. n° 2699), illustrant dans son ouvrage le style des Dan méridionaux, et en particulier celui du village de Flanpleu - associant  tension des lignes, pureté des formes et expressionnisme des traits. La richesse de la parure frontale - nervure médiane, scarifications et frise de petites cornes d'antilopes - est accentuée par l'érosion et la patine profonde du bois dur, signes de sa très grande ancienneté.
