Catalogue Note

Cette poupée illustre superbement le style développé dans la région de Boulsa (Est du pays Mossi), caractérisé par l'élégance de la construction géométrique - volumes résumés à leurs formes essentielles, cou étiré mettant en valeur la majesté de la tête circulaire, délicatement rythmée par la contre-courbe de l'étroit visage. Destinée à une femme, cette poupée avait pour fonction - symbolique et parfois divinatoire - de favoriser la fertilité. Profonde patine d'usage, brillante sur les parties saillantes. Voir Roy (1987, p. 189, n° 151) pour la poupée très apparentée de la collection Hubert Goldet.
