Catalogue Note

Destinées aux portes des greniers, les serrures ornées d'une sculpture féminine ou de la représentation d'un esprit protecteur devaient mettre les céréales à l'abri du pourrissement, des insectes et du vol (Roy, 1987, p. 69). Ici, l'étroite parenté stylistique avec les têtes ornant les tabourets de femmes collectés dans la région de Dédougou (Roy et Wheelock, 2007, n° 338 et 339), suggère comme origine les Bwa centraux. Superbe patine d'usage, nuancée, mettant en valeur les motifs tégumentaires ornant le buste et le visage.
