Catalogue Note
Les masques du gyè, associant au visage humain des attributs propres au monde animal, sont les plus célèbres des masques Yauré. Celui-ci se distingue par le très grand raffinement de son exécution, portant à son apogée une esthétique dont on sait qu'elle influença l'art des Baulé voisins.
L'équilibre parfait du jeu de lignes est accentué par le contraste entre le minimalisme des traits et la richesse des attributs délicatement sculptés. Très belle patine sombre, profonde, ponctuée sur la bouche, les paupières et la coiffe, de rehauts de kaolin et de traces de pigments bleus.
