This work is in generally good condition overall. There are few minor and unobtrusive dots of dirt behind the back of the figure and towards the lower right corner. There are three superficial scratches towards the center.

Le iconoclastie che oggi si rifugiano nell'astrazione artistica e le rivolte artistiche che si rifugiano nell'iconoclastia agiscono su un piano di monovalenza; dunque non possono più esercitare una efficace opposizione al potere dell'arte bivalente. La parola diventa immagine, il segno diventa immagine, l'architettura diventa immagine, il colore diventa immagine, la fuga dell'immagine diventa immagine. L'immagine perciò è l'una e l'altra cosa. Essa poteva apparire monovalente quando su di un affresco, un quadro o una statua evocava un solo dogma, un solo aspetto delle cose e un solo momento. Ma da quando il quadro diventa specchiante non ci possono più essere dubbi: è bivalente.
