Condition

This work is in very good original condition. The colours are more vibrant than they appear in the catalogue illustration. Executed on cream wove paper, not laid down. This work was executed on half of the folded portfolio title page of Jean Cocteau's Picasso de 1916 à 1961. The sheet is fixed to the mount at three points along the top edge and in the lower corners of the title page. The sheet is slightly wavy in the lower part of the composition. The lower edge is slightly irregular and there is a tiny flattened crease towards its centre but this is not visible when framed. A close inspection reveals a horizontal band of surface abrasion in the lower part of the composition, notably visible from the reverse, which appears to be related to the removal of an framer's tape.
