Catalogue Note

Les sabres Piso Surik Sindenggam figurent parmi les plus belles armes utilisées par les guerriers Batak. La poignée en corne de buffle représente un personnage aux mains jointes, la tête traditionnellement inclinée - ici superbe - la coiffe ouverte, en "v". Le fourreau en bois avec ses attaches de rotin est orné de motifs géométriques rehaussés de pigments polychromes. Voir Feldman (1985, p. 98, n° 101) pour deux épées comparables.
