Catalogue Note

Cette superbe coiffe masculine d'apparat fut collectée en 1953 par Bengt Ekström, directeur du Biological Museum d’Uppsala (Suède). Il publia en 1955, à l'issue de son voyage consacré à l'étude des peuples pasteurs du nord-est de l'Ouganda, Aventyri Karamoja. L'art des peuples nomades s'exprime essentiellement à travers les parures corporelles, atteignant parfois, comme ici, un raffinement extraordinaire. L'élaboration de la forme et des matériaux - associant argile et plumes - est accentuée par la beauté des contrastes picturaux.
