Catalogue Note
A notre connaissance, il n'existe qu'une seule arme comparable (et presque identique), identifiée comme Lunda/Chokwe (Elsen, 2009, p. 243), donnée en 1948 au musée de l'Homme (Paris), par Vayson de Pradennes (musée du quai Branly, inv.n° 71.1948.15.39). Selon Christiane Falgayrettes-Leveau, "fruits d'un long travail, les armes étaient [en pays Chokwe] l'apanage des individus de haut rang. La plupart de ces objets de prestige étaient strictement réservés à l'apparat, à l'instar de la hache du musée du quai Branly, dont la lame en fer, avec ses incrustations en ajour, est particulièrement raffinée".
