Condition

The colours are fairly accurate in the catalogue illustration although the overall tonality is less vivid in the original. The work is executed on its original canvas, not relined. Two tiny paint losses are visible under very close inspection : - 1 located on the right edge, 22 cm from the upper right corner - 1 located on the left edge, 21 cm from the upper left corner Probably due to previous mounting and only visible under UV light, the paint along the edges fluoresce. Only visible under UV light, 3 minor areas fluoresce : - 1 located 24 cm from the right edge and 55 cm from the lower edge - 1 located 4 cm from the right edge and 11 cm from the upper edge - 1 located 30 cm from the right edge and 5 cm from the upper edge The work is in very good overall condition.

Catalogue Note

" En 1949, Serge Poliakoff trouve enfin son véritable monde, celui où la ligne coïncide avec la forme dans la matière de sa couleur, il a trouvé son espace, celui du dedans."
