Description

  • An Apulian Red-figured Amphora, attributed to Close to the Ganymede Painter
  • Terracotta
  • Height 19 1/2 in. 49.5 cm.
decorated in front within a naiskos with a warrior facing right, holding a spear and shield, and wearing a billowing chlamys around his neck, and in back with a seated Eros holding a fan.

Condition

Generally very good. Body and neck intact. One handle is restored, the other repaired. The foot is repaired and chipped. Several small chip on the edge of the rim. Painting is in good shape except for some losses to the added yellow and white. Minor nicks, flaking and abrasions elsewhere.
