Description

  • Three Black-glazed Gutti, Magna Graecia
  • Terracotta
  • Diameters 3 5/8 , 5, and 4 1/4 in. 9.2, 12.7, and 10. 8 cm.
each with high spout and ring handle, the central medallion each molded in relief respectively with the mask of Medusa in three-quarter profile to right, a dancing maenad holding a thyrsus, and a frontal mask of a bearded god.

Condition

All intact and very good, the first with a few small losses to the glaze and minor nicks, the second with a few tiny nicks to the glaze (the blackness of which may have been enhanced with some coating?), the third with a few tiny nicks and slightly misfired.
