seated on a cushioned throne with arched back, and wearing sandals, chiton, and himation draped over his lap and falling from the left shoulder; the missing extremities formerly restored in marble.

private collection, Paris
acquired from the above by the present owner in 1977

Condition

Front of proper right foot and base formerly restored with marble, as well as proper right knee and shoulder, and upper right corner of back of throne. Arms probably originally separately carved and presumably once restored as well. Overall areas of accretions, minor chips and abrasions, including a shallow chip on front of proper right front corner of seat of throne. Proper right side of throne has remains of reddish pigment over a layer of gesso, in one area hiding a small restoration in plaster, still extant.
