  • A Roman Marble Portrait Bust of a Young Man, Antonine

  • Height 26 in. 66 cm.
wearing a tunic and mantle, his head turned sharply to his right, his thick mane of unruly hair falling in long curls over the temples and nape of the neck, the nose formerly restored in marble.

English private collection, early 20th Century

Condition

As shown. Surface highly weathered. Bust repaired across upper right shoulder. Break at nose worn down, probably for plaster or marble restoration. Rust stains probably corroded iron pins used for repairs.
