Description

  • A Roman Marble Figure of Isis or a Priestess of Isis
  • Marble
  • Height from modern base 18 in. 45.7 cm.
standing with the weight on her right leg with her right arm raised and holding a fragmentary situla in her left hand, and wearing sandals, chiton, and himation falling from the left shoulder and tied in a knot between the breasts, her hair falling in long curls over the shoulders; remains of pigment on the hair.

Condition

As shown and described, back carved flat with summary treatment of drapery, there is a large shallow loss to the bottom of the figure in back, surface is quite dirty overall from prolonged exposure to palm grease, nicotine, dust, etc., and can be cleaned.
