  • Height 8.8 in. 22.3 cm.
of Illyrian type, of domed form with everted neck-guard and parallel ridges on the crown for attachment of the crest, small punched circles lining the perimeter and composing curved decorative elements at the corners of the aperture.

Ambassador Walter Hess (1900-1986), Munich, acquired circa 1937, then by descent to the present owner

Condition

Note missing area on proper left cheek-guard visible in photo---there is a short vertical crack above it. The opposite cheek-guard is slightly chipped along the lower edge. The proper lower left side of the helmet is broken and repaired, as is part of the neck-guard, all disguised by old paint. The neck-guard is bent and cracked in places and has small losses. There is a small area with spots of bronze disease inside.
