  • An Etruscan Terracotta Sarcophagus Lid
  • Terracotta
  • 18 1/2 by 79 by 20 in. 47 by 200.7 by 50.8 cm.
molded in two parts with the owner reclining on a couch with pillows at her head and feet, and wearing a long mantle and ring, her centrally parted hair surmounted by a veil; remains of white, pink, and black pigment.

Condition

Good, especially for an object of this size. Made in two sections and there are a few chips where the sections meet. Several firing cracks, some of which have been filled. The bottom section seems to be repaired from two pieces. Face weathered, nose chipped.
