Description

  • An Etruscan Black-figured Amphora, attributed to the Micali Painter
  • Terracotta
  • Height 16 in. 40.6 cm.
with stepped foot, triple handles, and echinus mouth, the body decorated with a frieze of three centaurs, three winged centaurs, some with pointed ears, all wielding branches, and a bearded man, each side of the neck painted with two confronted woman-headed winged felines standing on either side of a tongue motif with dotted perimeter.

Condition

Intact and as shown. The black paint is enhanced in certain areas, especially on the shoulder and the neck.
