Condition

The canvas has been relined. There are some areas of restoration and retouching visible under UV light, notably: 1) to a number of interlocking repaired tears in a 14 by 19cm area in the figures pushing the cannon in the lower left quadrant and some other adjacent retouching; 2) retouching to an area in the left half of the upper left quadrant, mostly in the sky and extending below into some of the figures 3) a 7 by 11cm area around the green flag. To the naked eye, apart from some areas of craquelure the overall appearance of the work is good overall. Held in an elaborate, period-style gold-painted wood and plaster coved and fluted frame.
