Catalogue Note
The bowl demonstrates a signficant variant in Balkan metalwork decoration. Rather than designs dominated by beasts or naturalistic foliage, there is a high degree of stylisation and sense of geometry. A number of dishes with a similar decorative approach are in the Hungarian National Museum (Feher 1975, nos.40-42).
