Appears to retain its original top. Label on inside of chest inscribed Mrs. William Rand receipt 72. Chest inscribed with the initials HH. Side edges of top trimmed.

Condition
The proper left and right side edges of top pieced with 1 inch strips of later wood. The rear edge of top pieced with a 1/2 inch thick piece of wood. Gimel hinges removed and top now attached with three early 20th century butt hinges. Drawer pulls replaced. Retains original drawer runners. Retains full height to feet. Corners of drawers with later brass L-brackets. Remnants of original red and black paint still present. Drawer sides patched at location of slot for hung drawer. There is a 1 3/8 by 1/ 3/8 inch patch to center of top rail at location of keyhole. Secondary wood is Yellow Pine. Two wallstop blocks added to lower rear panel.
