Description
- Silk thread, Linen
- 16 by 10 ¼ inches
Worked in all-over in silk thread on a linen ground, a family record of the Enoch Loomis (August 12, 1750) and Esther Lovering (January 26, 1757) family. Retains its original wood backing.
Provenance
Marguerite Riordan, Stonington, Connecticut
Condition
It appears to be in excellent condition. It retains its original tacking holes, and has been sewn onto a piece of white cotton which in turn has been mounted over an acid free board. The original wood backboard has been retained – attached to the back of the acid free board – not touching the fabric. Stain on the right border.
The colors are vibrant and there are no apparent holes or losses.
