Catalogue Note
Exhibiting an elegant design, skilled modeling and an exceptional poise, this tea table is a dynamic statement of New England’s Queen Anne style with a fine old finish and rare diminutive proportions. The tray top is fitted with a molded rim to create the illusion of a tea tray, underscoring the table’s use for tea service. The scrolled apron moldings, which are applied with wooden pegs rather than nails, are comprised of a rhythmic series of cyma curves and spurs. The gracefully tapering cabriole legs with squared knees continue to delicate pad feet. This table represents the ultimate form and refinement of cabinetmaking from the Central Massachusetts and Connecticut Valley area.
