tapered cylindrical with molded base band and applied mid-rib, engraved in front with contemporry arms within a baroque cartouche of strapwork and scales, the lower body with later inscription, stepped dome cover with baluster finial and scroll thumbpiece, handle with slightly later block initials F/I*S

The inscription reads "Held in Trust during three generations Now presented by Joseph F. Ingalls to the only great grand-son bearing the family name. On the tenth anniversary of his marriage with the request that it be presented in remembrance of his ancestors, who have held it in possession more than one hundred years.Methuen, Oct. 11th 1874. April 1901 Bequeathed by James Ingalls to Kate Ingalls Pierce, grandaughter of Joseph F. Ingalls."
