the square body with slightly bowed sides decorated in mokume with Japanese gold, copper, silver and black below silver shoulders etched with full-blown flowers, the neck decorated with sloping silver scrolls enclosing seven panels of varying mokume patterns and metal combinations, the scroll handle springing from numerous tiny scrolls and terminating in one large scroll, handle also inlaid with vertical Japanese gold stripes and engraved with stylized flowerheads, the base etched with wavy script inscription "SRH July 16th 1882"
