  • marked on bases, numbered 13982-1217 and with marks for 1900 Paris Exhibition and 1901 Buffalo Exhibition

circular, the borders applied with entwined bellflower swags, scrolling foliage, urns, cornucopias and rams heads, also with oval reserves engraved with inital C and a coronet, the centers stamped with flowerheads

Condition

some wear to gilding in centers and light scratches from use, decoration otherwise crisp, of nice weight, overall very good condition

Catalogue Note

These plates were part of a 110-piece "Grand Silver Service" debuted by Tiffany at the 1900 Exposition Universelle in Paris.  All pieces were executed in the "George III" style with festooned decoration matching the present lot.  At the 1900 Paris Exposition Tiffany received Grand Prix for their work in silver, jewelry and leather work.
