Catalogue Note

Gorham’s records as reproduced by Larry Pristo in Martelé Gorham’s Nouveau Art Silver, p. 334, indicate the two platters are listed as being completed separately, the first on 9 November 1905, and the second on 18 December 1923. One platter was raised by Josiah Poyton for 6 hours, and chased by Ernest W. Regester for 24 hours. The other was raised by Thomas H. Yates and Edward Zior Jr. for 11 hours, and then chased for a total 24 hours. Together their net factory cost at their respective times of completion was $176.
