Proper right front side glue block replaced; proper right rear foot facing cracked and reglued; proper right front side foot facing with a 2 1/2 in. patch to base of facing; proper right front foot facing with patches; proper left front foot facing cracked and reglued, with 4 in. restoration to base of foot facing; proper left front side foot facing cracked and reglued; glue blocks reinforced with added nails; secondary woods are Altantic white cedar and poplar; proper left and right finial and finial plinths replaced; minor chipping to carving of rosettes; top most plume on cartouche restored.

This important chest-on-chest is nearly identical to two other known examples.  The first example is in the collection of Winterthur Museum, Winterthur, Delaware and is illustrated in Joseph Downs, American Furniture in the Henry Francis du Pont Winterthur Museum, (New York: Macmillan, 1952), no. 185. The other example was in the collection of George Parker, Janesville, Wisconsin and is illustrated in George Parker, "Early American Furniture in Wisconsin", ed. Faith B. Miracle, Wisconsin Academy Review, Spring 1997, p. 10.
