The complete portfolio, comprising twenty-five hand-colored lithographs printed on card and mounted on board, with touches of gum arabic, c. 1855, Reese's 4th issue, published by J. E. Adlard, London, with text and title-page contained in the original linen-covered boards, each print framed *(7 prints examined out of frame) (25 prints)

Condition

The prints are in good condition. The majority of the images with pale inconspicuous foxing in the backgrounds (7 plates without). The supports with scattered foxing and minor surface soiling throughout, pin-holes in the upper corners, the extreme corners worn with occasional associated skinning. (Several with adhesive remains at lower margin.)*7 of the 25 prints examined out of the frame The text sheets with soft handling creases throughout and occasional foxing (mainly at the outer sheets), the front and back cover toned overall and with scattered foxing. The boards worn, the cloth faded and fraying or worn away at edges, with surface soiling and stains throughout, the leather title lifting at one corner.
