Description

  • terracotta
with flat base, flaring sides and tapering shoulder, painted in reddish brown and dark brown against a burnished cream slip, with a stylized eagle-tail motif, surmounted by classic geometric designs flanked by thick, encircling bands.

Condition

Appears to be a ring of water damage to the lower section of the jar. There are small chips to the rim as well as a 2in. vertical hairline crack (stable). There is a crescent-shaped crack on the wall of the vessel that is stable.
