Catalogue Note

Carlo Gay characterizes the M10 style as 'the cardinal image' of the overall Mezcala tradition.

"At its best, the M-10 type epitomizes Mezcala sculpture, representing an optimal solution to carving a viable portrayal of the human figure in an intractable material and with the simplest tools." (Gay and Pratt, 1992: 51).
