Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the colours are deeper and richer in the original, and the illustration fails to convey the dripping texture of the paint. Condition: This work is in good condition. There is a stretcher bar mark along the top edge, with faint canvas draw to both top corners. Close inspection reveals scattered and isolated stable hairline cracks throughout. There is a very faint, thin, and unobtrusive rub mark running parallel to the top edge just below it. Examination under ultraviolet light reveals scattered and small areas of retouching throughout the canvas.

Catalogue Note

"He is the Italian Andy Warhol: he is the painter, the artist, who felt the importance of media. I mean the speed, the rhythm, the fragment, pop art, contamination..."

(Stefano Crespi interviewed in Mario Schifano, a television programme by Alessandro d'Avenia, Stefano Crespi, and Carlo A Mazzola, produced by Satelios TV, Italy, available online since September 21 2010)
