Condition

Please note this table measures 54 3/4 inches in length without the extension leaves. The work retains three original leaves, each adding 22 inches to the length. The catalogue illustration shows the table with one leaf, which therefore extends the table to 68 ¾ inches. The catalogue incorrectly notes this as the length with two leaves. The table appears to have a later sensitively executed finish. With minor surface scratches, impressions and surface scratches to the table top consistent with regular use. The underside of the table has some added unfinished wooden supports, and that strengthen the base when all the leaves are in place. These stabilizing boards are later, and are not visible once the table is righted. Some of the fastening screws to the underside have been replaced and fastening latches on the underside of the leaves are later. These changes have been made to make the table more functional and do not impact the visual presence of the table. The central leg when shown without extensions creates a solid central leg, and separates with the addition of the leaves. The leaves with similar later finish and show less scratches and indentations to the top from use. The three leaves differ slightly in color when placed in the table, and were likely not always used with the table, and therefore aged slightly differently. This table is a very adaptable design and can be configured into a large scale dining table.
