Condition

Overall in very good condition. The chair frame retains its original finish. Wood surfaces with nicks, scratches, rubbing to finish and areas of discoloration. The adjustable backrest with one area of possibly stabilized veneer lifting to the reverse and one veneer loss to the front of the backrest to the openwork plywood center panel. The reverse top edge of the back crest with light loss to finish extending the width of the chair, likely caused by rubbing against a wall. The top surface of the seat showing expected discoloration and rubbing to the front edge. Both armrests with light rubbing to the finish on the tops of the arms consistent with use. The arms with edge nicks, scratches and abrasions throughout. One abrasion measuring approximately one inch in length to the top of the proper right armrest. The proper right armrest with two age cracks to the front edge, one with an adjacent minor loss to the underside and one old loss to the inner front corner. The proper left arm with similar old losses to the top and bottom of the inner armrest now darkened with age and dirt. The moveable metal bar on which the seat back rests is a possible later replacement. The seat and seat back cushion (not shown in the catalogue illustration) covered in a reproduction Wiener Werkstätte textile consistent with period treatment of upholstery.
